5. November 2005 Hmmmm, it's been almost two months since I wrote a diary entry, and I promised myself to write at least once a month or even every two weeks. But I guess I have a good reason. I have been first of all really busy in London preparing my Melankton songs for my trip to LA where I did some mixes with Carmen Rizzo, and then after 3 weeks in LA I came back to London and suffered from a severe jetlag (also being a bit lazy) for a whole week before getting back to work on Melankton. Anyway, it's all coming along very nicely I must say. The album is aaaaalmost finished.... just around the corner. It's just so bloody hard to let go of your babies. Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you about my adventures in LA! Apart from mixing with Carmen, i went to see Sigur Ros and Amina play at the Hollywood Bowl.... which was fantastic. It was really fun to see 15 thousand people just sit there and watch and listen like in hypnosis. They really rocked the joint. Then Carmen had his release party in Hollywood for his album. It was great to see some of the other artists on the record as well. I met Grant Lee Philips who was super nice and then Jem who was also super duper nice and lovely. Then Nic Harcourt at KCRW started playing one the songs from Melankton on the radio. It was great to hear some of the new songs on the radio for the first time, a bit nervy though. But my radio adventure didn't end with KCRW and Nic, oh no.... I was invited on Indie FM 103.1 for an interview with Sat Bisla and Mike Savage of Passport Approved. They previewd two songs from Melankton which was sweet..... but then.... and actually very unlike me I managed to say "FUCK" live on air. It just slipped innocently from my lips in a middle of a sentence and Sat's face went all funny and weird while Mike took a dive almost under the table. It was then that I realised that you could NOT swear on American radio, and not only can you not swear, but they are really strict there about it as well. The station can be fined thousands of dollars or even lose their license. So, that was my rebel moment on American radio, and probably the last one as well.
17. September 2005 Hi there! I don't really know why I am sitting down to write a diary entry. I should be by the computer working on my songs for Melankton right now. But hey what the heck, I needed the break. This week has been really hectic as I am trying to put the finishing touches to the 12 tracks on the album. I was earlier this week working with Guy Sigsworth and Sean on the tracks I am doing with them, and I love it, it sounds so cool! Then I'm off to LA next week to start mixing with Carmen Rizzo.
20. August 2005 Hi, it's been a while . I have been so busy the last weeks recording my material for Melankton. I have been in Bratislava recording the strings with Bratislava Symphony Orchestra and then I went to Norway on a laptop holiday where I also recorded some sections for Melankton and started planning the Embla album. In Oslo I recorded a session with my favorite trumpet player, Arve Henrikesen and did some experimental drumming with Stig Værnes. Now I am back in London and I have been editing, producing and programming all the recordings, and that's not a small job :-)
17. July 2005 Hi there! I just came back from Iceland where I have been working with really cool people. I did some string arrangements with María Huld Markan of the Amina string quarted. Well actually she was doing the string arrangements, and I just said great sounds fantastic. Then I worked a bit with Eberg and met up with Valgeir Sigurdsson. Then... I also just relaxed in the midnight sun. It was difficult to sleep but the air is so fresh that it didn´t matter.
27. May 2005 Hiya! It's been a really hot day in London, seems like summer is finally here. Got my new laptop and I LOVE it! It will be a hot chill out weekend and then next week we'll do the final mixes with Jeremy Wheatly! Have also been getting my head into my new string samples . They are fab and I am hooked.
